Tinplate is a common name for electroplated tin thin steel sheet, abbreviated as SPTE in English. It refers to cold-rolled low-carbon thin steel sheet or strip coated with commercial pure tin on both sides, also known as tinplate. Tin mainly serves to prevent corrosion and rust. It combines the strength and formability of steel with the corrosion resistance, solderability, and aesthetic appearance of tin in one material, possessing the properties of corrosion resistance, non toxicity, high strength, and good ductility. Tinplate was called Tin Plate in the early days, because the first batch of Chinese tinplate was imported from Macao in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. Macao was transliterated into "tinplate" at that time, so Chinese people generally call it "tinplate"
